With the best jobs waiting to be filled by the most educated candidates, HCCs Partners for Jobs is doing their part to help these candidates prepare for a new position through Job Training Fest, an event designed to retrain and reinvent local Houstonians already in the workforce or for those seeking to re-enter it.
The Job Training Fest will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Houston Community College Southwests Alief Campus, 2811 Hayes Road, Houston, TX 77082.
Houston Community College, community leaders, Houston-area employers and organizations are working together to increase awareness of job training and job placement opportunities in the greater Houston area.
For those looking for a career change, HCC Southwest offers cutting edge career and technology programs that participants can explore such as Web Design, Digital Gaming and Simulation, Computer Sciences Cisco Academy, Film/Video Special Effects and Geographic Information Science.
Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with career guidance counselors and get information on financial aid options and job training resources. Interactive information booths will also be on hand throughout the Job Training Fest to answer any questions on how to receive the best training to benefit each individual. Additionally, Workforce Solutions will present a workshop entitled Rebranding Your Skills to help identify and reconfigure skills one might already have in place.
